  • This course is an in-depth lecture and laboratory course in biological science, equivalent to a first year college biology class.  The course explores details of molecular and cellular biology, organismal biology of plants and animals, evolution, and ecology.  All course candidates are required to take the AP Biology Exam in May.  Many colleges will grant college credit for scoring a 4 or 5 on the AP Biology Exam.  Therefore, successful completion of this class may earn college credit as well as high school credit.

  • This course is open to students currently enrolled in Biology With Research and committed to participating in the Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair. This is a UC approved course that fulfills the life science lab requirement. Students in Biology with Research are challenged with more hands on learning and focus on the Biology standards as they participate in research of their own design as well as national scientific studies. The focus on labs helps prepare students for future scientific endeavors. In order to receive Biology with Research credit you must fulfill all the requirements listed in this website.
  • Earth Science includes 1 semester of geologic hazards: earthquakes, volcanoes & geothermal features, landslides, tsunamis & rogue waves, floods & drought; and 1 semester of astronomy: structure of the universe, the Sun, solar systems, impact events, life cycle of stars, and characteristics of stars.
